Autism Speaks was looking to challenge common fundraising techniques. This campaign looks beyond pity-based imagery and instead centers on empowerment, individuality, and dignity. I used high-contrast black-and-white portraits overlaid with bold, brand color shapes that celebrate personality rather than evoke sorrow. Headlines like “I’m different. Not less.” and “I have a name. I can.” affirm identity and agency, flipping the narrative from need to strength. The visuals elevate their voices and invite donors to listen, not rescue. This fresh, strengths-based approach fosters deeper connection and respect—ultimately inspiring more thoughtful, long-term support.
